Aquarium 2014 publishing

One nice feature of the new Aquarium is that they updated the publishing function so now there is a floating board that moves down when you scroll so you don't leave it behind while reading the moves.  I remember this being one of chessadmin's major issues and I agree this is a big improvement.  Here's an example from a recent game I played annotated by Houdini 4.

  1. Nice to know , but not sure it is worth the upgrade cost.

I have the 2011 variant of Aquarium, and always liked the publishing options, but as well as the ' scrolling' issue there was also a problem with the board not remaining the correct size : it became elongated, so not very nice to view !

  2. Thanks for posting up the new Aquarium publishing feature. Actually the major problem for me was that a post with an Aquarium game would for some bizarre reason cause other blog posts below that to not be displayed on my main blog page. Also, any subsequent editing of the post would throw off the formatting slightly.

When a previous Aquarium game was published, it would all be contained in a scroll box, so that worked out OK, even if the displayed area was a little small. This new format looks more like the latest ChessBase display system, which allows for more space to display the full game while "scrolling" the gameboard itself.

  3. Thanks for your comments.

@Signalman, Yes, I know Convekta products can be buggy. I definitely had to play around for awhile to get an option that worked well for the blog with the 2013 variant. As far as the cost of upgrading, I actually kind of think it's silly that I did, but hey there's worse things I could spend my money on.

@ChessAdmin, I think I meant that I remember you had a kind of checklist for features that you were looking for in your display option and one of the biggies was that the annotations shouldn't leave the board behind. I had forgotten about your other troubles.
