I got schooled!

Here I'm black. I knew when he played d4 that he wasn't supposed to but I couldn't remember anything about what I should do. Anyway, I clearly went wrong. After the game I looked it up in "Fundamental Chess Openings" and sure enough I had read the passage covering the reply to this several times. This is the kind of occasion when I really want a do over. I don't mind losing that much when I was just outplayed but there was a strong sense that I should have played a better reply here and I really wished I had another chance at it.

I should have played 8...♘xd4 9.♘xd4 exd4 10.♕xd4??10...c5 11.♕d1 c4 traps the bishop. This is called the 'Noah's Ark' trap. Of course my opponent might have had another idea in mind than playing Qxd4 but at least I would have been a pawn up and avoided this disaster.
